You can recognize the real pea coat by its tailored collar, its double-breasted buttoning (closing from right to left for women), lapel pockets which are the key features of the true pea coat, tab closure with buttons under the collar to protect from the wind, buttons with a metal navy anchor, inner counter button, and inner zipped and reinforced pocket in woollen melton to secure your belongings. All its features are the legacy of sailors' needs that have been reused and adapted to modern needs (such as the size of the inside pocket to fit a smartphone).
