As the original historic brand, Le Glazik continues to manufacture the genuine fisherman’s smock worn by professional fishermen. Crafted from thick organic cotton, it embodies authentic maritime craftsmanship and a durable Breton heritage.
Description
The authentic Made In France unisex Vam smock from the venerable company Le Glazik.
Sailormen used to cut their smocks fabrics directly from the old sails of their ships.
Le Glazik started in 1928 with the sailor's smock jacket and pants (in the same Breton sailor's fabric) in order to supply all the fishermen dwelling in Glazik country (i.e. Quimper and its area : Breton Cornwall).
Its fabrics was labelled organic more than 30 years ago, making Le Glazik the forerunner on its market before it became a "fashion" trend and motto in the last 10 years.
Formerly, the smocks colours were bound to be colour codes between sailors, enabling them to visually identify which home-port / region (parish) they came from. No parochialism here, just checking everybody stayed in one's fishing area !
The heavy canvas provides a good protection from sea sprays & wind . Split collar with the possibility to go up the collar in case of strong wind, is closed by its copper button placed inside. This is a safety element: it prevents the rope from getting caught in it and therefore prevents accidents. Its two patched pockets on the inside not only secure your personal belongings but also prevent them from falling out when you bend over. The original loose fitting can turn the smock into a sweater.
Since 1928, Le Glazik preserved its authenticity by consolidating its core asset, more than 90 years of know-how. The family business is renowed as the specialist in Breton sailor clothing, for sea-lovers or "genuine-garment-wearers" !
